10,000 Shot Club
WHAT IS THE 10,000 SHOT CLUB?
This is a classic basketball milestone. Joining the "10,000 Shot Club" isn't just about the number; it’s about building the discipline, muscle memory, and "touch" that separates casual players from knockdown shooters.
Must be an Everest Youth Travel Team player for the 2026-2027 season.
Challenge Dates: June 6th to September 5th
The Daily Shooting Menu (The "Perfect 200")
Don't just stand in one spot. To become a versatile scorer, the 200 daily shots should be balanced.
- Warm-Up: Form Shooting (20 Shots)
- Stand 3 feet from the rim. Shoot with one hand only. Focus on the "gooseneck" finish and the ball splashing through the net.
- Layups & Finishes (30 Shots)
- 15 Right-hand / 15 Left-hand. Include Mikan drills and driving layups from the wing.
- Mid-Range Jumpers (70 Shots)
- 10 shots from 5 different spots (corners, wings, top of the key).
- 20 "Catch and Shoot" off a self-toss (spin the ball to yourself).
- Three-Pointers (40 Shots)
- Note: If the player is younger/smaller, move these to "Deep Mid-Range" to avoid breaking shooting form.
- 8 shots from 5 spots around the arc.
- Free Throws (40 Shots)
- Crucial: Never shoot these all at once. Shoot 10 free throws after every section above to simulate "tired" game conditions.
Tracking & Accountability
A goal without a log is just a wish. Stay honest with yourself and your progress.
- The Paper Log: Keep a notebook or a printed calendar in the gym bag. Write down "Shots Taken" and "Shots Made."
- The "Partner" Rule: If possible, find a partner. One person rebounds while the other shoots, then swap. You’ll hit your 200 shots in half the time.
- Weekly Check-ins: Have a coach or parent initial the log every Sunday night.
- Be sure to submit your weekly Google Form to track your progress and stay in the game
- You may credit 200 shots for each day in attendance at the Summer Camp (July 20th- 22nd), Credit 50 shots for each day in attendance at Sunrise Skills (June and July) and any other basketball camp you attend during the summer.
Golden Rules for the 10,000 Shot Club
Quality > Quantity: Taking 10,000 "lazy" shots will actually make you a worse shooter. Every shot should be at game speed with game-level intensity.
- Follow Through: Hold your finish until the ball hits the floor.
- Use Your Legs: Shooting comes from the ground up. If you’re tired, use more legs, don't "fling" the ball.
- Perfect Practice: If your form starts to break down because you're tired, stop. Take a break, get some water, and come back when you can shoot correctly.
- Track "Makes" Too: While the goal is 10,000 attempts, the best players try to increase their "Make Percentage" every week.
